One-on-one sessions with a counselor to help patients recover from alcohol and/or other drug problems.
Outpatient individual counseling services for adults or adolescents 12 years or older (ASAM Level I) includes residential and non-residential specialized services on a scheduled basis for individuals with alcohol and other drug abuse problems. Admission criteria include the existence of substance related problems, including emotional/behavioral conditions and complications. To avoid relapse/continued use, the client must seek treatment in a supportive recovery environment.
The treatment consists of regularly scheduled individual counseling and/or group therapy sessions in a professional environment that meets state certification criteria. Sessions are scheduled by patient and counselor depending upon the diagnosis and patient needs.
The client and his or her counselor create an individual treatment plan. The counselor then helps resolve the client’s alcohol and drug abuse issues and related problems. Whenever feasible, the client’s affected family members and/or significant others are involved in the client’s recovery program.
The treatment program emphasizes socially acceptable values, such as self-reliance, responsibility, competency, individual achievement, individual/community protection, and the importance of the family. Topics addressed include criminal thinking and behavior, adolescent issues and behavior, post-acute withdrawal syndrome, relapse prevention, breaking through denial, medical aspects of addiction, letting go of high-risk behavior, family function and dysfunction, cognitive restructuring, HIV/STD education, parenting, and co-dependency. The program includes life-skills training, experiential learning, goal setting, personal empowerment, respect for self and others, and positive self-concept and self-talk.
The client and his or her counselor decide when the client is ready to move to the appropriate next level of care. The next step for recovering clients is active participation in a comprehensive continuing care plan which is personalized for each patient.
The staff includes licensed or certified alcohol and drug abuse counselors, and support service staff. Counseling services are offered at these Nevada locations: Ruby View Counseling Service, Elko; Silver Sage Counseling Service, Winnemucca (also serving Battle Mountain); Restoration Counseling Services (serving Las Vegas); Footprints Counseling Services (serving Reno and Washoe County); and Cottonwood Counseling Service in Battle Mountain.
Vitality Center may have to place a client on a waiting list if our unit is full. Pretreatment will be offered at the nearest outpatient center until a bed becomes available. Clients that are uncooperative or violent can be denied admittance. Clients with medical and/or mental conditions which require a higher level of care than we provide will be referred to another facility. The client and his or her counselor decide when movement to the next appropriate level of care occurs. Active participation in the comprehensive, appropriate, and accessible continuing care plan is personalized for each client. Applicants are accepted and treated regardless of their race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, physical handicap or ability to pay for services. We are accepted by most major insurance companies and are Medicaid approved. Insurance coverage must be verified prior to confirmation of admission. A sliding fee scale is offered to all clients who meet criteria. Treatment should not be postponed due to financial concerns. Lives are at stake!
